Today we present ViewBug community member WitoldBacia, a still life and product photographer based in Warsaw, Poland. "All of my professional life I have worked in the advertising industry - as a client (brand manager) and as a AdAgency (I'm Strategic Director ad RedComm). Most of my shots, including this one, are taken in my  studio in Warsaw."

Can you explain the lighting setup for this photo?

The easiest part is the backlight. Just savage translucent foil with a backlight using a studio lamp, a  honeycomb grid and a color gel. To catch this little red lights on the edges of broken glasses I had to use 2 snoots with grid and red gel. The red pieces of glass at the bottom was made via a second exposure.

What equipment did you use?

Nikon D800 with Nikkor 16-35mm on Manfrotto tripod, 3 studio flashes, color gels, snoots and a grid.

What inspired you to take this photo?

I like to add some creative spark to product photography. The idea of shooting a series of shots done with vodka glasses came to my mind after watching a typical product photo shoot for a vodka brand. Most of these shoots are similar, I wanted to add something unexpected to this.

Did you do any post-processing?

Small corretions in contrast and a combination of two exposures for red sparks in the bottom.

What equipment do you normally have in your bag?

For product photography I work in the studio, so there is a tons of stuff - studio lamps, light modifiers, filters, softboxes, backgrounds etc.

Any advice for others trying to capture something similar?

Work the scene, try to look for POVs that are not obvious. Work with light and try to be laser precise.
