For this landscape photo contest, we invited community members to share their best shots of beautiful blue skies for a chance to be published. We are working in partnership with Jam Press for a chance to have your photo featured in publications such as the NY Post, Fox News, and others.

3 Easy To Follow Tips On How To Get Dramatic Skies In Photography:

1. Keep it on manual mode

You need to consider how to take the photo in a way that will bring out the clouds and the color of the sky while avoiding overexposure. Getting familiar with the manual camera settings can help to get the right elements in place, specifically: ISO, aperture and shutter speed.

2. Go after the golden hour

Be aware of sunset and sunrise times as the colors in the sky are dramatically affected by the sun going up at sunrise or dawn and when it goes down at sunset or dusk. You'll be amazed by the mixture of yellow and red colors in the sky.

3. Use a circular polarizing filter

A circular polarizing filter makes the sky colors brighter and will make the clouds more dramatic. The colors become more saturated, and you will see more definition on subjects usually blurred out by bright lights. The filter is very easy to adapt to the lens and the effect or polarization can be adjusted by rotating the filter.
