Thank you to all the photographers that contributed to this photo contest and a special thanks to photographer Damien Lovegrove for his participation in selecting the next winners:
Congratulations to egouws winner of the Nikon Coolpix Camera Kit!
“This picture has been set up exquisitely. The exposure is spot on, the post production is masterful in the simplistic approach. I love the shallow depth of field, the nail in the ship lab boarding and best of all I love the sincerity of the children.I like a picture with a narrative, a story to tell. The girl in the foreground is beautiful, perhaps she shoulders quite a bit of responsibility in life. I can certainly see a woman in her with a maturity advanced of her years. The next girl and the lad both show their personalities through their expressions and the joker in the group is definitely the child at the back. I’d like to have a print of this. It is wonderful.” – Damien
Congratulations to the following Honorable Mentions:

“Another masterful photograph. The lighting is well controlled with the rim lighting being particularly effective. The contrast has been held well and it is great to enjoy such a rich body of shadow detail. The boy’s hands make this shot. Both of them play an important part in communicating the moment to us. I’m not a fan of the fuzzy vignette post production look. I think the shot is strong enough to work without it. Well done.” – Damien
calliopegurl with photo “Capturing excitment”
“This photograph certainly lives up to it’s title. It really is a very well taken shot with just the right shutter speed and aperture combination to ensure it is sharp right where it needs to be. The yellow/ green colour cast ruins the picture however this can easily be rectified. I think this image can also be improved with a crop from the right. The girl is having such a great time getting wet and this is a picture that will remain a favourite in her family for generations to come.” – Damien
camanuelaldana with photo “Untitled”
“Simply superb studio lighting and a very special moment captured perfectly. The dresses are fun and the girls are buzzing. I think the picture could be cropped by 1/6th from the right. It is a shame the shot has had such poor post production. The girls have a plastic CGI look to their skin. I’d like to see this unedited straight from camera as it would have far more integrity. That’s easy to fix and this photograph is worth it.” – Damien
Latitude4236David with photo “Zach in Artistic Zone”
“This picture pulls the viewer in. It’s alluring nature relies on reflections and detail. The mill painting, the artefacts and Zach’s art deserve scrutiny. The art book has been cleverly propped up to provide fill light from the angle poise lamp.” – Damien
