Location
I headed outside to my garden just after a summer thunderstorm. As the sun broke through the clouds, this Primrose caught my eye. It was, literally sparkling.Time
It was a hot afternoon. I don't remember the hour specifically but when the storm clouds moved off, the sun caused my garden to sparkle.Lighting
Mother nature provided the lighting, I just showed up.Equipment
I don't remember what camera I was using. Probably a Canon since I mostly use Canon cameras.Inspiration
Thinking I was intending to take photos of the flowers in my garden, I ended up photographing the rain. It was the reflective quality, the brightness of the drops of rain that transformed an ordinary flower into something that looks quite alien; different.Editing
This photo appears just as I shot it.In my camera bag
I do not like to carry extra lenses so I only carry extra batteries for whatever camera I have on me when I go shooting. I often bring a small pocket camera too because sometimes they are perfect for certain quick shots like action or landscape.Feedback
Rain drops add not only a new reflective light source but also reflections of the plants themselves that are intriguing. Flowers, plants and sunlight are reflected in the droplets that I find irresistible to photograph. I may go out to my garden thinking I'm going to create a few flower portraits and end up photographing the rain instead. I end up with much more interesting images.
