Around 4 p.m when the sun is not that high but worthly strong to be able to use the natural light.Lighting
Not done in a studio, but there is obviously a trick. Using only the natural sunlight of the afternoon coming through the window (no other artificial lighting) in a dark room with all turned off. That way the subject can be neat and have a very dark bachground that we can easily turn whole black with contrast/level buttons.Equipment
The equipment ? Nothing more than the smallest Reflex camera by Nikon (D3200) with its regular 18-55mm lens, set at 55mm. No need of flash or other additional artificial lighting, using only natural sunlight through the window. To stabilize, only the strengh of my right hand shooting while trying to focus Fleya's sight with the other hand, with noisy aluminium paper.Inspiration
Fleya has so many face expressions that it's unlimited to find something new with her. Bored of cute round and innocent eyes, I tried to shoot her while yawning. As I couldn't wait for the shutter chance, I disturbed her so many times during her long naps.Editing
This picture has been shot in RAW, so there's obviously a post-processing. Trying to get the horrible dark background absoutely black, I had to use the contrast/level buttons. During the numerical development of this pic, I've also played with the color bars to make them stronger and more pronounced.In my camera bag
I'm always carrying my whole equipment everywhere I go : my Nikon D3200 Reflex camera, 18-55mm, 50mm and 70-300mm macro lenses, ans tripod. As I'm not fond of using artificial lightings, I don't have any external flash in my equipment.Feedback
A maximum aperture to have the fastest speed to be able to capture every detail, not to be disadvantaged by the fast moves of the cat. Minimum sensibility not to get the whites burnt. And most of all, lots of patience. :)
