wonderful shallow dof, beautiful shot, really draws the eye in, nicely conceptuallized!

Alan Jakarta......This is a DOF shoot. Everything does not always have to focus to work. In this image, I wanted to emphasize on the cape while still being able to see the little girl from a distance. Probably about the easiest way to describe concept photography is to say that you are making a photo instead of taking a photo and using your imagination and creativity. You create a concept or idea in your mind and then you put elements together to create what you have thought of. In other words you are not just going out and shooting what is exactly in front of you but putting elements together to make the image what you want it to be. With this image, I wanted the cape to look like it was coming at my lens. The cape was not nearly that long. So.....I added material to the original cape to make it appear that way and added snow. Imagination is a wonderful thing......it's what seperates you from taking a picture to creating something magical and original. Hope this helps explain the concept alittle better for you! Thanks!

The blurriness draws the viewer apart from the subject, giving the taste of amorphous memories, that you are not sure of their existence. btw, is the red addition on set or post processed?
