Location
I took this photo in Látrabjarg, the most Western point of Europe in Iceland, on top a very steep cliff.Time
It was almost 23 hr when i took this photo of the Puffin. Summer days in Iceland are very long and i waited until sunset to capture a nice soft light of the sun going under. This way you avoid hard light and shadowsLighting
I took a couple of hours to observe the puffins. They fly so fast and come form underfeed the see up to the cliff. This means you need to know at which place they will jump up and land.Equipment
a use a nikon D700 camera with a 200-500mm nikon f5.6 lens while lying on the ground , nicely camouflaged not to scare the birds.Inspiration
Photo's of puffins are random but it's take some effort to catch them while landing. Here i was lucky to catch 2 of them within the same depth of field. The diagonal line of the cliffs and birds are for me an extra element in the photo.Editing
I always shoot in raw and do my processing in lightroom to add some contrast. In my camera bag
mostly too much ... and too heavy (form 8mm to 500mm)Feedback
take time , stay still, observe and stay focused with your finger on the trigger
