Behind The Lens

Location

I took this picture when for the first time I went to see this beautiful place "sibbilini mountains" and upon returning I found myself in front of these beautiful animals that were grazing free on the mountains. This beautiful plateau is located in Umbria (Italy) and it is a very special place, out of time.

Time

I was back at home, in the late afternoon

Lighting

I had to touch up the background of the sky which was a bit "burned" the white to contrast with the rest of the image that instead it had become very dark and color charge announcing the bad weather that was coming. And it was this combination of two opposites that stuck in mind. On the one hand hidden pastures and wonderful colors and the other hand the law of the mountain that changing climate was sending us away, beautiful! I tried to make a dramatic moment which is typically a very calm and normal time, horses who walk and graze. A bit 'as in the painting by Van Gogh, there are crows over a wheat field. A daily immagine, normal, and yet full of dramatic nature of what the artist was living at the time.

Equipment

I used my Canon 760D with a simple 18-55, I also have a 40D, and it was my first camera

Inspiration

As I said previously, this is a wonderful place and when after the climb you face this enchanted valley, it's really hard to decide whether to photograph or just watch and breathe.

Editing

I must say that the Tuscany, Umbria and many regions of Italy where I am in the last two years, are an inexhaustible source of amazing places, the ancient city, an endless beautiful landscapes I ... I knew of the existence of this place by a person who was there, I went there to see the place, but above all to s whether, and what kind of emotional impact also will create this meeting! I think you have to try to be able to "soak" photography with smells and cold or heat than what we took.
