Location
This photo was taken near Nkandla, KwaZulu - Natal in South Africa.Time
I remember taking this photo very well. I noticed the beautiful flowers in the field during a road trip from Durban to Nkandla . This was just after midday. I had my camera with me and had to make use of the opportunity presented by nature. Yes, taking photos of nature can be addictive!Lighting
The photo was not taken during the prefered golden hours but just after midday. However, the available clouds diffused the strong sun and daylight providing lovely soft light to work with.Equipment
A Canon 7D Mark ll on a steady tripod with Canon EF-S 10-22mm USM lens was used to capture the photo.Inspiration
As I said before, nature can be addictive! Beautiful landscapes are inspirational! Looking at the stunning work of other photographers on forums like Viewbug inspires one to improve and up your own game.Editing
Yes, post-processing was done in Photoshop. This includes: * Lens Corrections, * Adjusting contrast, highlights and shadows, * Using the dodge and burn tool, * Crop, straighten, resize and sharpening of the image. In my camera bag
The first equipment to go into my bag are my Canon 7D Mark ll camera, Canon EF-S 10-22mm USM lens and Canon EF 70-200 F2.8 L IS USM lens. With these I feel comfortable to deal with most situations presented by mother nature. Also included are a tripod and, cleaning kit. Lens filters will be used when required.Feedback
Follow your heart, be prepared and ready to experience, enjoy and capture the beauty of nature. When possible and applicable do research on the location you plan to shoot. Know your gear, conditions change fast which can result in missed opportunities. Be patient. Try shooting from different angles, directions and view points. I took about 30 photos from this scene. Afterwards I selected the most pleasing images for editing.
