Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Pensacola Beach in Florida.

Time

This photo was taken around noon on a chilly November day.

Lighting

The sun was at the perfect height to allow the shadows to be exactly down the middle of the boardwalk.

Equipment

I used a Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ3 digital camera, held it at a slight angle.

Inspiration

As the sun was in at the perfect height, the shadow it cast reminded me of railroad tracks. The blue sky and the angle I was at made it look like the boardwalk and shadow went off into the distance.

Editing

No post processing needed for this photo.

In my camera bag

From the time this was taken to now my equipment has changed quite a bit, I use a Nikon D3100 (George M. Nikon) now. I always have the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3G ED VR Camera Lens (nicknamed the Mega Lens) I'm never without various filters, I also carry my Sony Handicam. I also carry the Panasonic with me for those areas where a less conspicuous camera can be used. (as my phone doesn't do the best pics)

Feedback

Trial and error, sometimes we have an image in our heads of how we want the photo to turn out, taking the same photo at different times of day, changing the angle, experiment with the aperture and shutter speed, if using a DSLR try taking it off automatic. Sometimes the best photos happen with less planning. It's your photo have fun with it.
