How is this done as I have no idea? This is very creative!

You have to take two photos from the same place (best done using a tripod) then in photoshop you have to blend them together by cutting out regions of the top image (in this case the figures face) and this will reveal the image bellow it. After that I have used Lightroom to adjust the colours because it is much easier to use than Photoshop.

Behind The Lens

Location

This was shot on the south coast of the UK in Brighton. I think it marks the beginning of my interest in photoshop art and generally just playing around with photos to create something fresh and imaginative (hopefully!).

Time

So I was on holiday with my friends who were somewhat reluctant to come out and help, but after a while of convincing them of my ideas we finally set out onto the streets at about 10pm with the aim of just seeing what we could come up with. I remember this being an especially cold evening but I only realised that as we got back home, as the cold doesn't seem to matter too much when I have my camera and friends around.

Lighting

I wanted to take this photo during the evening hours as car lights offer beautiful bokeh, in addition the darker lighting helps to add a sense of mystery about the figure.

Equipment

For this particular photo I used my Canon 700d, with 50mm f/1.8 and a non brand tripod.

Inspiration

I am particularly interested in manipulating photos and creating something unusual. Now I think that photo sites like Pinterest and Instagram are massively important for sharing new ideas, and I have often managed to find inspiration on sites like these.

Editing

Did I do post-processing?! I think that's a given! For this photo I have used two photos taken from the same position and have then used Photoshop to mix them together by removing the face area. I am also a massive lover of Lightroom which is what I often use for colour grading my photographs.

In my camera bag

Before I even begin to pack my bag I like to make sure that all five of my camera batteries are fully charged as I have paranoia that I will never have enough! Generally I travel pretty light, packing my Canon 700d and only taking one lens. The lens in question is my Canon 50mm f/1.8 which is a lovely prime lens especially given the fantastic price tag which lends itself to the newly aspiring photographer. And that's it if I'm just going to be wandering around. However, if I have a specific shot in mind I will often also pack my tripod, Canon 24mm f/2.8, and an ND filter for both lenses.

Feedback

I think it's really important to capture whatever you're interested in. So whether thats sports cars, portraits or more surreal photos like me I feel that photography should always be personal. In terms of advice for creating work like me, I would suggest getting used to working with photoshop and feel comfortable with the idea that it is rarely a quick process. I would also like to encourage people to be more confident with capturing imaginative and slightly unusual images, after all if you don't try then how can you possibly know what you might be able to do?
