Behind The Lens

Location

I travel to Singapore a few times a year and this was shot in 2014. I typically arrive very early in the morning so I catch a few hours of sleep and then head down to China town to grab some late lunch and shoot a few pictures. This was taken while sitting having lunch from afar.

Time

I would assume this was about 2 PM in the afternoon

Lighting

Lighting is fairly good as the sun is almost always shinning there, but there are some high buildings around that can block the direct sunlight or create shadows

Equipment

Cannon 5D MKII with a 70-200 2.8 lens. I shot this at ISO 320 148mm 2.8/400sec

Inspiration

Being an American the sights, sounds and colors of Singapore are a wealth of photo opportunity. Not every day do we see 3 young monks walk down the street.

Editing

Yes, at that time I wasn't shooting RAW, so this was a JPEG and I was using Aperture at the time for final processing.

In my camera bag

Today I have 2 bodies which are a 5D MK III and a 7D MK II All Cannon Lenses 16-35 mm 2.8 24-70 mm 2.8 70-200 mm 2.8 100-400 mm

Feedback

Obviously people are walking through a very crowded space and you only have a split second to get a shot before someone or something steps in the way. I increase my ISO some to ensure a fast/clean shot and shoot several shots at rapid fire to improve my chances to freeze the subject
