I took this photo on Labor Day weekend, 2015 at Moraine Lake, at Banff Nat'l ParkTime
I watched the sunrise at Lake Louise, and arrived at Moraine Lake at about 9:30amLighting
The light was very bright, and the lake was as flat as glass... The reflection was amazingEquipment
At the time I was using a Nikon Df, with a 20 mm f/1.8. The shot was handheld.Inspiration
I was inspired by the natural beauty of Moraine Lake.Editing
I processed the picture, with a version of Tonality. It was destined to become a B/W.In my camera bag
I use a Sony a7rii, Voightlander10 mm f/5.6, Zeiss Loxia 21 mm f/2.8, Voightlander 40 mm f/1.2, Voightlander APO Lanthar 65 mm f/2.0 and a Zeiss Loxia 85 mm f/2.4. I also pack 52 mm, 58 mm and 67 mm ND filters, in both 3 and 6 stops.Feedback
I like to walk around and really look at the landscape that I'm trying to capture. With this picture, I walk the entire length of the lake. Most pictures at Moraine Lake, are shot, near the lodge, at the "rock pile." As I walked, I noticed that the lines of the rock cliff were converging, literally pointing out the Ten Peaks and their beautiful glass reflection being cast, upon Moraine Lake. So my bit of advice... Take a walk, take you time, focus your camera and really explore your subject, it's amazing what you might see.
