Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at my mates garage. It's his car that promotes the garage when he's out and about.

Time

This was taken mid morning on a nice overcast day.

Lighting

It was important not to have a bright day where there would be too much dynamic range in the image.

Equipment

This was shot with a Pentax K5ii and a Sigma 10-20mm. The camera was attached to the car via a car rig.A car rig comprises of suction cups a carbon fibre pole. For strength to weight ratio I use a pro Dragon Rig kit.

Inspiration

Well it's a cool car so it was calling out to be shot! We opted to shoot it at the garage so there was a connection between car and background.

Editing

Not much. An ND filter and circular polariser were used when it was shot. Bar a few basic PP tweaks in Lightroom all I did was remove the pole via Photoshop.

In my camera bag

Bar the camera, lens, filters and the pole, I always carry glass cleaner to make sure there are no marks to the car when the cups are removed. A wireless remote is also in my bag to trigger the camera without touching it.

Feedback

There is a great car rig community online. Facebook has a group with many car riggers from all over the world in it. They offer advice and constructive criticism.
