Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was captured at Yosemite national park, California. I'm a self taught amateur photographer from Brisbane, Australia. I enjoy all aspects of photography. But drawn to landscapes.

Time

It was shot late afternoon. My friend and I were heading back to our lodge. We stopped at a number of various locations, but decided to walk through the snow to get a closer look at El Capitan from the base... I had to do some climbing over boulders and as I looked up I saw- in my opinion, a lovely chance at capturing a decent shot. I was happy with how it turned out. And the final product is what you currently see.

Lighting

It was close to golden hour.... So the shot in colour has beautiful light.... I'm a fan of B&W so I decided to do two edits

Equipment

Omd em1, polarising filter, Olympus pro lens 12mm-40mm

Inspiration

The share epicness of the mountain was just too good to pass up. Especially from the angle I was on. I just had to take it!

Editing

Some minor contrast changes and sharpening in light room. Plus converted to B&W

In my camera bag

The beauty of m43 is that you can bring a lot of gear and not be weighed down with weight. So I currently have Oly pro 12-40, 40-150, 8mm fish eye Olympus 70-300mm Olympus 12mm prime Olympus 45mm prime Olympus 60mm macro Olympus 17mm prime

Feedback

You're definitely spoilt for choice in Yosemite. It's just a visual feast! Everywhere you turn there's a chance to capture something unique or spectacular, besides the mountains, there's waterfalls, wildlife, people, colours. In all honesty.... Just go there- take a lot of pictures and I'm sure you will come out with some stunning photos YOU will be proud of!
