Behind The Lens
Location
This photograph was shot right in the city streets of Sydney, Australia. I was still in high school and we were on the way to an Art Gallery for an excursion. Of course, I brought my camera!Time
This was taken at around noon time, I remember we were walking back from the art gallery. The route on the way back included this park that was surrounded by buildings and I clearly remember seeing this particular building that stood out from the rest. I was just so amazed of its intricate, sharp design.Lighting
The natural lighting was just perfectly captured. The rays of the sun hit the balconies and windows of the building, creating more geometrical shapes. It also created a good tonal contrast on the building.Equipment
This was taken with a Canon EOS Kiss X3 with an attached 70-200mm f/4 telephoto lens.Inspiration
The unique architectural design of the building captured my attention. It was a one of the newest buildings that was put up and it stood out from the rest.Editing
Yes, but only a few and mainly the basic tweaking of brightness/contrast and dodging/burning on photoshop. I was still in high school and it was a great time for me to explore the various genres I could capture and what I can create. I wanted to keep it as close to a natural shot, as ironic as that sounds, but I didn't want to over-manipulate the photo. Choosing black and white I guess, makes it focus more on its textures and outlines. I really like how it all turned out.In my camera bag
Well, since I've just recently graduated from high school and still looking for a part-time job, I only have a few lenses to bring here and there. But they do the job and so I'm happy either way. I bring two camera bodies, a canon 450D & a canon kiss X3, and 3 lenses. My all time favourite is my mini bazooka lens (mini because there are other bigger bazookas on the list), 70-200mm f/4 telephoto lens, a sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 and my standard lens EF-S 18-55mm.Feedback
I guess one advice would be is to look around you, scan the area and see what stands out from the rest. Think of what makes that object unique, look for the tiniest details and explore it in different angles.
