this image immediately brought to mind an old episode of The Twilight Zone called "Spur of the Moment" and written by Richard Matheson. He also has written several novels that were the basis for such films as Stir of Echoes, Hell House, What Dreams May Come, and I Am Legend. I drift of the subject. Very effective image.
