This shot is really tight. It almost make want to curl up in the tree for the night. It really makes you want to go camping.

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at our campsite called Big Cypress Patio during a camping weekend at By the River RV Park in Kerrville, TX.

Time

It was taken at night after we finished dinner and made a camp fire to roast marshmallows for the S'mores.

Lighting

The lighting seen in this photo was from several light sources. Two of the sources were artificial light; one was the camp fire and the other was lanterns. The natural light was from the full moon that was out that night.

Equipment

For this photo I used my Nikon D7100 camera with a Tokina 11-16mm Wide Angle Lens on a MeFOTO Roadtrip Tripod and a shutter release cable to avoid camera shake.

Inspiration

I was learning how to use my new lens and thought it would be a perfect time to practice taking night photos with my camera.

Editing

Yes I did have to post process this photo to remove a vehicle that was off to the left of the photo as well as brighten the inside of the tree.

In my camera bag

My Nikon D7100 camera, Nikon 50mm f/1.8 lens, Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X 116 Pro DX, Tamron 90mm f/2.8 SP AF Di Macro Lens, Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR II Lens, an additional battery and a shutter release cable.

Feedback

Just get out there and experiment as much as possible. I take my camera and equipment with me everywhere. You never know when an opportunity will present itself so it's alway better to be prepared.
