Excellent shot. Looks like an armored engine from WW II.

Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in Cluj, Romania, during a 5 days trip. In front of the railway station is displayed this gorgeous piece of history.

Time

The image was taken in the evening (in October at 9 PM is dark already).

Lighting

When we arrived at the station we had in front of our eyes only the locomotive, illuminated by spotlights. The city was dark, the Moon was high. I took several images, from all angles, fascinated by this "monster". Kneeling down for an image I spotted the moon, and tried to get it as it would go out the chimney.

Equipment

The photo was taken with Olympus XZ2, handheld. This little guy is a wonder.

Inspiration

Being near the modern trains is hard to imagine/remember what trains looked like a few decades ago. It is so interesting to see the evolution, and for that to happen one needs to have a reference point.

Editing

I love Lightroom, so I did a little noise reduction, contrast and clarity.

In my camera bag

I carry all the time the Olympus XZ2 with me. I chose it just for that, to be able to have it with me all the time. It fits in any purse. For "serious" images I use Canon Rebel XTI and canon 100 mm macro lens. I usually take macro shots, so that lens is perfect!
