Very crisp portrait. Maybe for a human it is too crisp but I love how the hair looks.

Location
All my pictures are taken either in Portland-Oregon or Southern California. This particular one was taken downtown Portland.Time
I normally shoot after 4 p.m. Due to the fact that I shoot with natural light.Lighting
I only shoot later in the day or early in the morning. During these periods the light is more even and softer, making portraits lighting more dynamic and delivering better results. If you can't take pictures during these periods, DON'T PANIC! (lol), you can still find a shady spot such as under a bridge, inside a coffee shop or anywhere else where the light is even and not so harsh.Equipment
I shoot with a Canon 6D+ 85mm 1.8 or 50mm 1.2 LInspiration
I have a personal project with homeless people, called " Careful: Soul Inside". I take pictures of these people and narrate, through a short essay accompanied by the pictures, whatever I can absorb from those 10 minutes we talk. Most of their stories are quite interesting.Editing
Yes, I have my own workflow, on which I use several layers of dodge and burn, sharpening and color correction. Many people mistake it by Draga Effect, but, frankly, I have never even bothered to look what it is, since I believe as photographers we should find our own style and "beat".In my camera bag
I am a Canon guy: Canon 6D + 85mm 1.8+ 50 mm 1.2+ 24-105 mm 4 + 8mm fish eye. I also have some reflectors, portable backdrops, and time to time I carry a strobe but rarely use it.Feedback
As I said, understanding light is essential. I am lucky enough to have the gift of drawing and creating illustrations. That helps a lot when comes to understanding the concepts of shadows and lights, and guide me whenever composing and shaping light. My advice is, study, study, study and also observe. You're surrounded by objects, take a minute of your day and try to dissect how light is shaped and react from one surface to another.
