Location
This shot was taken in Vancouver, Washington. It is a shot of the I-5 bridge crossing into Portland, Oregon taken from the river path on the washington side.Time
It was a clear warm summer night. So at about 11PM I went down to the river path to walk it and see if I could find a good shot. And here it was, The bridge.Lighting
The Portland airport is about 3 miles to the left of this bridge. So the stream of lights rolling through the image were 2 airplanes that rolled through my shot as I was shooting. I thought it was a great effect for the image.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon t4i on a tripod with a standard 24-70 lens at 20 second exposure.Inspiration
Growing up in this area and spending sometime going over this bridge. I just wanted to get a memory of it. There has recently been some talk of it going away or chaging, so I wanted to get a shot of it before that happens. After all is that not what photography is about. Capturing memories!Editing
All my shots are done in RAW format. So I use adobe camera RAW for post-processing. Not much was done to this one. It has been a while but I believe on this one all I did was add a bit of vibrance for the color of the lights to pop and clarity for detail. With a touch of lumance to soften it up.In my camera bag
Now days I am shooting with a Canon 5DS-R I have a 70-200 lens,16-35 wide angle and an 85mm prime for now. Tripod is a must as well as camera trigger and flash. This is the basics that get me trhough most shoots. I have additional gear but this is what usually gets me through almost anything.Feedback
Just go for it. For me the beauty of photography is you can always take another shot if you didnt get it the first time. If the first shot isn't right re-adjust until you get what you are looking for. It is about creating the image of what you want and sometimes that takes time. I would also suggest not deleteing any photos you make not fully like until you have thoroughy looked at them on your desktop as I have had some shots that I had thought I would not like, and they turned out being some of my favorites now.
