In my opinion, this is a winning shot. The colors and tones, clarity and focus, shading, and composition are incredible. If I had one critique I would have change the eye not looking upward and over but more toward upper middle. But this is nit picking.

Location
This is a studio shot we did at my place. A very simple, yet functional home studio.Time
Just before the coffee time. =)Lighting
This shot used 4 lights. The main light is a 80cm octabox, 30 degrees to the right of the model and a litlle higher than her face. Is the light that you can see reflected in her eyes. Then, there is 2 softboxes placed at 90 degrees to the model, the left one with a blue gelatin. The last one is a large softbox, placed in front of the model, in the ground with a purple gelatin and set to the minimum power to fill some shadows with a warm tone and enrich the red make up.Equipment
I worked with a Canon 6D with 135mm lens, firing the monobloc strobes with a radio transmitter. Easy and simple.Inspiration
I´m producing a make-up portfolio for my MUA, Laila Coelho, and we are using every oprtunity to do new photoshots. So, when my friend Rafael Ferreira invited us to work with him in a project to renew the portfolio of some local model´s book we started to produce some ideas to experiment with colors and lights to create some eye-catching face shots. Nathália Paulon was the perfect choice to highlight this scenic colors and shapes.Editing
I used Photoshop to do a basic skin treatment, to sculpt more precisely the shadows and highlights to create the mood I was in pursue of. I wanted to create a dramatic fashion look, with very deep shadows, shiny skin tones and all the make-up details. In my camera bag
The most important part of my equipment are the strobes and the light modifiers. After modeling the light, any modern camera and lens will give you a nice shot. The 50mm goes great with APS-C, is the only lens I never left at home. Also, I always have the tripods, the remote controls, radio and cable to sync the strobes and a collection of colored gels and filters..Feedback
Keep all the elements very simple, a natural pose, a ligh easy to control and play with the composition to catch the expression without distractions. The main points in this images is the face, the colors and the dramatic contrast, so let them tell the story.
