Location
This photo was taken at Wood's Cove beach in Laguna Hills, just below the staircase.Time
This photo was taken at the tail end of a family portrait session. The sun was just about to set and I gave a pail with some seashells in it to the boys to play with. Usually the really little kids love taking the shells out of the bucket, playing with them and then putting them back in. This one wasn't so sure! this is an "oldie" from my portfolio, dating back to June of 2011.Lighting
Nice golden sunset light is always nice to shoot in -although it can be rather too warm at times! I much prefer shooting in natural light over anything else.Equipment
This was shot on an Canon 50D with a 50 mm 1.4 lens.Inspiration
The expression on the little guy's face when he picked up the seashell was reason enough for me to snap a shot!Editing
I ran a basic edit in Photoshop which was an action I created that basically increases contrast, sharpens slightly and makes the photo a tad more vibrant. In my camera bag
What I have in my bag now is very different from what I had in my bag then. I currently carry 3 camera bodies: a Canon 5D mark iii, a Canon 7D and a Canon 70D (mostly use that one for video because it does such great tracking). My favorite go-to lenses are my 50mm 1.2 L prime, my 24-70 2.8L, my 70-200 2.8L, my 85 mm and my 16-35 2.8L lenses. I have a few others I don't use all the time. I have several Canon flashes as well.Feedback
Just always be ready for the unexpected - my favorite shots are often while I'm setting up a pose or after the "smiling" and posing is done and real life happens!
