The red is stark against the grey and blues of the landscape which really captures the eye, I absolutely adore the movement and the respect to the rule of thirds!

Location
During our ten day road trip around Iceland we stopped at the black sands of Vik Beach for this photo.Time
I remember waking up at 4:00 am for this photo. While everyone else was still sleeping I began to run through my equipment and double check everything. By 4:30 I had dragged everyone out of bed and we were on the road. By 5:30 am we arrived at a beach that in 3 hours would be covered with busses of tourists. Despite Vik Beaches hallmark status there was a sense of solitude as the rest of Iceland slept away.Lighting
While the clouds covered up all harsh lighting I was lucky to be shooting into the direction of the sun. The light reflected perfectly off the waves on the water and created great silhouettes around the rock features.Equipment
5D Mark III with a 24-105mm. F/ 5.6 and a ISO of 200Inspiration
When I shoot it's about reflecting the environment. I'll ask myself, "What posing or dress defines what's going on here?" It's not about using the landscape to compliment the portrait nor vice versa. It's about bringing the two together into one piece.Editing
Yes! Extensive work on Lightroom with custom presets. Sometimes a photo needs more extensive editing on photoshop. In my camera bag
I cary a 5D MIII body, 6D body, 16-35mm, 24-105mm, radios and lighting, paintbrushes to clean the camera from snow, micro-fibre clothes, sham-wow to dry the camera, and of course a tripod.Feedback
