Location
This image was taken at Lake Wyaralong, in SE Queensland.Time
It was taken on June, 2015 in the late afternoon.Lighting
The sun was just starting to set, but unfortunately the area of the lake that I wanted to shoot to catch the sunset was crawling with people, making a clean shot impossible. So I moved on ...Equipment
It was shot on a D750 with a Sigma 24-70mm @ 70mm. f/7.1 / ISO 200 / SS 1/1600Inspiration
I was actually leaving the Lake. The shot I had come for wasn't going to be so I decided to head home. As I was driving, I spotted the tree but opted to keep driving as I had an hour and a half travel time to get me home. But the image of the tree played in my mind. "It will still be there next time I come this way", I reasoned .... but still the image persisted. I got about 2km further down the road before I finally hit the brakes and turned around and went back just to see if the shot I had seen in my mind's eye was actually *there*. It was, and I was particularly happy when I got it home and onto the computer and really saw what I had managed to capture.Editing
I did the basic editing in Lightroom, exported it to Photoshop where I did a little tweaking of colour, contrast and selective sharpening. In my camera bag
It depends on what I expect to be shooting, but my two most utilised lenses would be the Sigma 24-70mm and a Tamron 28-200mm which I love because it is very light, very compact and the colour and sharpness it produces is exceptional.Feedback
Given that I almost drove past this and miss the shot completely - the lesson I learned, and based on that lesson the advice I would pass on is,don't walk away too soon. If you think you see something, some potential, take the time to examine and explore it. You're already there and who knows, a storm may well have taken that particular tree down before I had a chance to return. It doesn't always pan out, but when it does, you'll thank yourself :-)
