Location
The photo was taken at Magee Marsh along the southeastern coast of Lake Erie. There is a boardwalk through the wetlands near the shoreline where migrating birds stop to rest and feed.Time
Picture was taken at 12:30 pm November 3 2013.Lighting
It was a gray, overcast sky.Equipment
This shot was taken with a canon S100. No tripod or flash.Inspiration
This is a place that My wife and I walk very often, the leaves had been falling heavily recently and we thought it was fortunate no one had been there to disturb the leaves on the pathway. We knew it was a rare opportunity and wanted to capture it. My wife is the one that came up with laying down for the shot.Editing
This photo was loaded into lightroom as a JPG and processed in lightroom before using the NIK software to finish. In my camera bag
Most of the time I carry a Canon T3i or a canon 5D mark III. I shoot with several lens, but mostly I use a 100-400 f4.5-5.6L IS or 24 105 f4L IS and sometimes a 70-200 f2.8L IS.Feedback
The thing I am still trying to learn is to be able to see things from a different angle than the one first presented to you. Don't be afraid to get down on the ground, carry something to kneel or lay down on if you are in dirty or rough areas. Low or high shots often present unique and wonderful opportunities. Turn around and look at where you just came from and see it from a different angle. Shoot a lot and shoot often.
