The bark of the trunk, sinewy and well-defined. The solitary bird, so tiny and insignificant. The greens amidst the blanket of snow. The burst of light burning gloriously - a spectacle akin to witnessing the Burning Bush. OMG!

This was taken at Colorado National Monument. I was headed back to my car, and glanced behind me to see this perfect shot.Time
Very early morning, so I had that soft majestic lighting.Lighting
Early morning light, the sun had just risen over the Grand Mesa in the distance, it was just superb.Equipment
Canon T2i and the kit lens 18-55.Inspiration
I took an early morning hike on Colorado National Monument, as I was heading back to my car, I glanced behind me and saw the sunlight peering through the pinyon tree. It was so beautiful, I stopped and did my best to capture the moment.Editing
I use Lightroom to adjust highlights, shadows, contrast and make the colors pop.In my camera bag
Canon and my favorite lens to use right now is the 24 mm pancake.Feedback
Patience and willingness to get up before sunrise to capture that great lighting.
