Behind The Lens

Location

Taken at the Echo point in Blue Mountains, NSW

Time

This is the first light of 1st Jan 2015.

Lighting

Nope.

Equipment

Nikon D5100 on a Tripod

Inspiration

I was in the area and it just made sense to take advantage of the location :)

Editing

Nothing much other than some basic tweaking of contrast and colour depth.

In my camera bag

Now I have my D750 with my Nikon 22-70 and my trusted LumoPro manual flash.

Feedback

For a photo like this the main thing you need is patience and a tripod helps too :) It was slightly tricky for me to get the timing right. With long exposure, the sun became too bright and with faster exposure, everything else became too dark, so had to experiment a little. Don't be afraid to take multiple shots and wait on the perfect time for that light to emerge from behind the mountains. I thouroughly enjoyed taking this photo. I hope more people would go and explore this area.
