The Bathtub

I recently had the chance to work with a new male model, which is a little rare for me for several reasons. Firstly, I tend to like sticking with the models I already know and work well with (and since I'm very shy, it's nice to already know them) and secondly because most of my concepts are created with women models in mind instead of men. Not that I have anything against male models at all! My images are all so personal; they're coming from a very female perspective, so it usually makes the most artistic sense for me to portray those ideas with other women.



However, once I came across Travis Weinand, I knew I'd found someone special. And as we exchanged emails in planning the shoot, I kept discovering we had more and more in common, which led to more and more inspiration... I ended up with so many concepts for him, it became apparent that we'd need at least several shoots to capture it all. Which is a very pleasant thing to look forward to :)
I'd been toying with the idea of trying out a more fashion-editorial style. Travis' look works beautifully for both fine art and editorial looks, so it was a great chance to try out a little bit more of that. I'm planning on doing a bit more of that style, though of course I'll never leave fine art!




Travis is very multi-talented. He's very dedicated to his physical training, which means he can actually do a lot of the things I'd have to accomplish only in Photoshop. His training allows him regularly compete in American Ninja warrior; Google it and be impressed! He also comes from a fine art background, sings and plays bass in his heavy metal band Burden: http:--burden.bandcamp.com-. Their album is great; you really should give it a listen!
Expect to see more of Travis in the near future! He'll be shown in DreamWorld next. And I hope you enjoy this little side step in a slightly different style of photography!
And no, I did nothing to enhance his eye color. They really are that blue. I think most of us are jealous ;)
