The San Diego Zoo.
Not much here on the lighting. Sun was luckily at my back for the whole show.
All I used was a canon 7d and a canon 100-400mm lens. No tripod or flash was used.
If anyone has seen a cirque de sole show before knows that just the performance itself is amazing. I was very lucky to have stopped by the area to rest and the show was just starting.
Post-processed using photoshop with the nix silver efex plugin, which is an amazing tool for editing black and white photos.
In my camera bag
Normally I would have a canon mark III with canon lenses 100-400mm, 100mm, 70-200mm and a 16-35mm lens. A flash and a tripod. I try to keep a wide variety of items to take on anything I encounter.
There are a ton of moving parts in a show like this so the key is to try not to get it all in one shot. Focus on a part or a single person or event to capture the beauty of that moment. Staying focused on your goal is also a big part of it. Sometimes you have to watch beauty unfold through your lens instead of with your own eyes. Rememeber that memories fade but your pictures can always bring those memories back to the surface.
