Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken at the Mamukala Wetlands in Kakadu National Park, Australia. I noticed the damselfly among the reeds near the edge of the water.

Time

It was taken at mid-day when I was waiting to go on a wetlands cruise. The light was quite harsh.

Lighting

Lighting was very harsh, so was modified in post processing.

Equipment

This was shot handheld with my Nikon D3000 using a 55-200mm vr lens.

Inspiration

The simplicity of the scene.

Editing

I shot in jpeg and did post processing using Photoshop Elements 9. Editing included cropping, saturation adjustments, and using cyan and swirl filters for the creative effect.

In my camera bag

When I took this I only just started using a dslr so my lenses were limited to the 55-200mm lens and 18-55mm lens. Now I usually always have a wide angle lens and macro lens when taking nature shots.

Feedback

Look out for small creatures in among grasses and shrubs, not just the larger subjects with alot of impact.
