Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Lincoln City, Oregon.

Time

This was late afternoon. My daughters and I just checked into our hotel room.

Lighting

I liked the way the natural light reflected off the water and through the kite almost making it transparent.

Equipment

I used a Nikon D3000. I didn't use a flash or tripod. I zoomed in using a Nikon 55-200 lens.

Inspiration

I saw the kite and it looked like it was sailing on the ocean. I thought it looked cool and took the photo.

Editing

I didn't have to do a lot of processing. I cropped it and adjusted the lighting.

In my camera bag

I have a Nikon D3000 and several lenses. My favorite lens is my Nikkor macro lens. Someday I would love to get a long range zoom lens.

Feedback

It helped to take the photo at the right angle to make it look like the boat was sailing on the water. The afternoon cloudy sky with just a hint of the sun playing on the water was perfect for the shot.
