It’s 11:00 PM and my attention is drawn to the call of the most keen of the winged predator of the night … The Great Horned Owl! I latched the 500 onto the camera body, clipped on an external flash and hastened out in anticipation. Focusing in the dark of night is the challenge if not for the anticipated chance of the predator abruptly leaving the scene. I got but one click of the shutter … they were gone! I say they because rarely does one see them in pairs.
