Location
This photo was taken on location on my very first photo shoot. I am self taught and was honored when asked by some friends to have their first baby shoot.Time
The location was indoors but there was plenty of natural light as it was about 3PM on a sunny summer day.Lighting
I always try to utilize natural lighting and I was able to take advantage of a large picture window that was in the house. It was sunny and made for excellent lighting conditions in the house.Equipment
This was take on my first camera which was a rebel 3 I believe. I used no tripod and if I used flash it would have just been the camera flash. The lens was the regular kit lens that came with the camera at the time.Inspiration
I remember watching a YouTube video and wanted to make sure not only did I capture portraits but I also wanted to have some intimate close up shots. I had seen the baby feet with the mothers hands and thought the dads hands would give me the contrast of strong rough hands with the smooth baby feet.Editing
I can't remember exactly what I did. All I know is at the time all I had was photomatix. In my camera bag
Now days I carry a Canon 1DX as I shoot a lot of sports for the local high school teams. I also carry a 50mm Sigma Art, 70-200II f2.8 Canon, 14mm rokinon, and a tamron 150-600. My walk around lens is a 24-105L Canon.Feedback
Don't be afraid to try new angles and new ideas. That's what is great about digital images if you don't like it you can move on to the next one. However if you fail to try new things for fail to capture new images. There are a million great photographs just waiting to be taken.
