Thank you all for the peer rec. This image has been printed , matted & framed to be Raffled off a fundraiser for a Family member who was killed in a head on collision on 7/1 His name is Ryder Medlin, He was barely 19 years old. We are in need of support to help the Family pay for funeral expenses.. so I have a few of my images printed, matted & framed to help in raising the funds needed. I will feel so proud to know my work will be hanging on someone's wall in memory of Ryder P. Medlin

Yes Ironically My Sister won this print in the Raffle drawing at the fundraiser, she actually won 2 of my prints , She gave this Rose print to Ryder's Maternal Grandmother ( which is my Sis's Mother inlaw) So I am very happy with the way it all worked out & just goes to show that a simple lil bloom in nature can have so much meaning & not even know it at the time the shot was taken... I have 5 huge rose bushes that are in bloom constantly so I do often take a shot of the most perfect ones as they bud, bloom & die off quickly!

The sun does hit the roses about mid morning & through the rest of the day but with enough shade as well to capture a beautiful bud in bloom =]Equipment
Nikon j1 , No flash...Inspiration
I love flowers of all kinds, even a lil weed is beauty & art to my eye... Roses & Liles are my Fave... These particular roses bud & bloom so quickly that it really is all about the timing to capture the "Perfect" tight rosebud. Shortly after this photo was taken we lost a very young family member, 19 year old Ryder in a head on collision I decided I would have this portrait printed, matted & framed & donated to help raise $ for funeral expenses... My Sis won the Print & gave it to his Grandmother so upon taking this photo & loving it from the start, it certainly holds so much more meaning now that it is hanging on Ryder's Grandma's wall!Editing
I did edit this photo with LR5. I softened the background as there was a chain link fence , sharpened the rose & the used a haze preset.In my camera bag
My camera ( naturally) 2 lenses extra battery, extra memory card, cleaning supplies.Feedback
If you like the feel for the overall effect of the photo most definitely make sure the subject, flower etc is in focus to bring out the detail. Work with softening the back ground, dodging, burning to give effect of highlights & shade. Enhance the details & play around with filters, presets etc..
