Mid-afternoonLighting
Mid-afternoon generally doesn't make for great lighting situation, but the rolling clouds came in and helped diffuse the harsh lighting. The breaks in the clouds also created an interesting sky.Equipment
Body: Canon 60D Lens: EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens Handheld shotInspiration
The inspiration of this came from the general area that I was in. My wife and I were on a "babymoon" vacation. I had actually forgotten my tripod at home back in the States. I was just walking around and crossed to the beach area off the resort in which were staying hoping to find something interesting along the way.Editing
Just some basic adjustments in Lightroom: some contrast, vibrance and saturation... just a bit to bring out some of the colors. In my camera bag
Normally, my bag contains the following: One body: Canon 60D Two lenses: EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 and a Canon 28mm f/1.8 One flash: Canon 600EX-RT flash with some Phottix radio triggers Other stuff: Lens cleaning stuff (cloth, rocket blower, cleaning solution), polarizing and ND filters, a bunch of extra batteries, and business cards One tripod attached to the sideFeedback
Don't be afraid to walk around and find something interesting. When you find it, have some patience. Usually scenes like this are crowded with people, and this one was no different. Get your exposure right, then just wait till you get a clearing and take the shot. Sometimes people may look at you funny and stare but just ignore them.
