Behind The Lens

Location

Say hi to Mister the wonder dog, an awesome big puppy, and at times loves to have his portrait taken. I do or did a series I call the Detective where I use this handsome pup in some of the shots. This was taken in an ally in downtown Reno Nevada The contrast between the red walls and the black dog jumps out you.

Time

Taken about midafternoon so I could get some interesting shadows

Lighting

no flash no scrims just straight sunlight

Equipment

A vintage Nikon D300 and 18-70 Nikon lens just a normal tripod

Inspiration

Doing a series I call the Detective was driving around town for an interesting background and saw this ally perfect for what I had in mind

Editing

sharpen and contrast

In my camera bag

at the time I had a Nikon D3oo with an 18-70 and a few filters, now I shot film found it has the look that digital just can't do. Now I use a Hasselblad 500C with a standard 80mm and then for other things I also have a 150 mm with a variety of filters and an extra 120 back for that different film look.
