Location
I took this photo at Myaca State Park in central Florida using a Canon DSLR and a Canon 100-400ISL lens.Time
The Shot was taken just after sunrise and the reflections where beautiful.Lighting
The light was golden and slightly diffused and just a beautiful glow.Equipment
I use Canon DSLR's, Canon L series lens, bogan tripods and Canon Flash. I have been shooting with everything from a Canon 10D, 20D, 30D, 50D and 5D so far.Inspiration
I was on a mission to get the bird shots that i wanted for a long time. when i saw the lighting on this shot and the beauty of the Great White Egret I knew that I had the shot I was looking for.Editing
This shot didn't require post processing. I try not to have to do a lot of post processing but if I ever do it minor tweaking. I'm not a great photoshop person and so I have to do the best I can to capture the image the first time.In my camera bag
I usually travel w two DSLR bodies w battery grips, 24-105 ISL and 100-400 ISL lenses also keep my 50mm prime on hand. I carry a cable release, filters and multiple CF cards. I think it's also important to have bulb syringe in case you get dust on the sensor. I have a Canon 580 and 430 Flash,Feedback
Not to state the obvious but patience, lighting and composition combine to make this shot. You have to be willing to go when the light is at it's best. Early morning is my favorite time for bird photography and late afternoon light. It's important to understand the habits of the birds and understand when they are most active.
