I took this photo during my family reunion. It was taken while in a park in St Louis.Time
Since I had been on the grill since early morning that day, there was no time for me to take pictures before about 2 or 3pm. I took it probably around that time and was having a great time because the family had become quite lively!Lighting
Read all you can about lighting. There are many books out there that explain the dynamics of natural and indoor lighting. Learn the basics and practice every chance you get!Equipment
This photo was taken with a Canon EOS 50D using f/5.6 with an exposure of 1/160 and an ISO of 1600. I also used my 70-300mm and no flash was used. I took the picture while sitting at a picnic bench.Inspiration
My niece and I where having a "good" talk like we do every once in a while. She is quite reserved and shy. Once the favorite uncle (me) made everything better and I could see the smile, I told her I wanted to take her picture. When I pulled the camera out, she went back into her shy mode. Sooooo....I took the picture to show her how pretty her eyes are.Editing
I did not do any post-processing. Truthfully, none of the photos I take have post-processing other than a watermark, on occasion. In my camera bag
I carry a Canon 50D body, Lenses; Canon nifty 50mm, 24-105mm and 70-300mm, Flash; Speedlite 430EX II and a Gary Fong flash diffuser. For now, it's all I need.Feedback
Make sure you are using a stable grip on your camera, wait until your subject blinks and take your picture.
