Beautiful B&W portrait with a difference. Like the silky hair spread giving graphical pattern......amazing. Nice work, congrats on the feature.

Choosing a lense over her mouth in stead of anything else; portraying it in black-white, with enhanced brightness and the oxymoron of radiating darkness. . . have done wonders. GREAT THOUGHT behind your composition :)

I took this photo during my enrolment at Fanshawe Colllege, doing my photography course.Time
This was taken around 5pm, but was taken inside the studio, so time was a little irrelivent to this pictureLighting
A few lights were used for this photo. They included soft lighting from above and from the side created with different soft boxesEquipment

During class we had an assignment called "Student Study" where we were to pick a partner and capture them and photography together. I tried many different things, thought about many different ideas, but like every other time I shoot, the magic didn't happen until we got there. I thought about my model and who she was as a photographer and told her to lie down, grabbed a brush and brushed her hair out as long as I could. I thought she is full of life and energy, and full of words and thoughts, so why not show a close up of that. I gave her the lens and asked her to hold it by her mouth as if she was speaking through the lens. This picture not only captured her but the idea I've had of her since I met her. Full of life and excitement.Editing
Yes I did do some pos processing to this picture. I changed the photo to black and white to show the contrast and dramatization I was going for. I fixe up her skin and fixed he hair to make it look exactly like what I was going for.In my camera bag
I always carry my Nikon D7000, my 18-200 lens, my 50mm lens some filters, a tripod mount, extra memory cards and a flash.Feedback
My advice to capture something similar is let your imagination take you. Think of who or what the person, place or thing is that you want to photograph and capture the way you feel about it or a new a creative way to portray it. We all see things from the same point of view, head on, so why not change it up and show people a different side of your subject.
