Grand Jury Winner

"This image is my Grand Jury award! I love the fetal position and the shadows grasping her like fingers. Fingers that are not soft. Shadows that have a darker mood and add tension to the overall composition. The single vertical shadow seems to be the vertebrae of the skeletal shadow enveloping her. I love photos that make me think, make me create stories and go deeper. Even to the depths of places I am not sure I want to go. When I titled my contest: Shadow and People, I hoped for images like this where the shadows played a massive part in the concept. This shot does it all for me! " - David Beckstead

Runner Up

"Love the way the shadows separate the highlights defining the shapes! This shot is all about shape, contrast, tonality and lighting. The shadows help with the erotic mystery. I love that the shadows are just as opaque as the surrounding background. This could be a human form, but it could be other forms: tea pot with handle, smoke or flame or… Photography works so well when it sparks imagination." - David Beckstead
