The Arctic Ring of Life at the Detroit Zoo opened in 2001 and is the Largest Polar Bear exhibit in the World. Arctic Ring of Life is centered around a 300,000 gallon aquarium which is shared by both the Polar Bears & the Seals. The exhibit allows visitors to get a one of a kind view to both the Polar Bears & Seals by way of a 70 foot long underwater tunnel made of 4 inch clear acrylic. There are several clear acrylic walls used to separate the Seals from the Polar Bears, but gives the illusion that they are swimming together. ----- Aquila is a temporary guest at the Detroit Zoo for 2 years while his habitat at the North Carolina Zoo is being Remodeled.
