"I am a French-American freelance, Fine-art photographer, living in Alicante, Spain. Born in Sydney, Australia, I have extensively travelled throughout my life. At age 8, I received my first camera, a Kodak 110 Instamatic and followed the footsteps of my father and grandfather. My passion for photography is driven by my love of travel, capturing the essence of faraway places, the people, the culture. I purchased my first SLR, a Canon 500N, when I was 25 and have been shooting on and off since then. In 2001, I made the jump to digital with a SONY 2.1 Megapixel Cyber shot DSC-S30.
As with many photographers, the switch was an eye opener to a new world and style of photography. I now specialize in travel and street photography, both of which make up the majority of my portfolio. Some of my personal projects include taking a photo every day of the year. These Project 365s have not only allowed me to exercise my composition creativity but also helped me demonstrate that an expensive SLR is not needed to take good photos (last year’s project was 100% from the iPhone).
Creativity is something a true artist can do with almost any tool. Although these projects can be stressful at times (daily pressure to pull off a shot), they have been an invaluable training tool to exercise various creative styles and always be on the lookout for “special moments”. The end result is a mosaic of daily events that make up an entire year. It’s the most rewarding way to document one’s own life." Alex
