Black And White Wow Factor Photo Contest Winners

A special thanks to our friend and professional photographer Ibarionex Perello for his collaboration as a guest judge. Ibarionex Perello is a photographer, writer, educator and the host of The Candid Frame photography podcast. He has over twenty years of experience in the photographic industry and his photographs and articles have appeared in Digital Photo Pro, Rangefinder, Shutterbug, Outdoor Photographer and Scott Kelby's Light It magazines.
"I really like how this photographer uses a limited tonal palette to produce a great black and white image. Usually, I’m seeing a full gradation from the light to work, varying tones of gray through the frame. This photographer chooses to work with less and manages to still produce a stunning black and white photograph." - Ibarionex Perello
"I like how the photographer uses negative space here and especially the middle grays that area up. Usually a black and white photographs are focused so much on the extreme ends of the tonal range, but here the more neutral grays helps to serve as a strong counter point to the darker and lighter elements in the shot. I also like the interplay between the foreground and background elements in the frame that’s created as a result of the effective use of negative space." - Ibarionex Perello

"This is a wonderful composition, which uses the graphic lines of the scene just as effectively as the tonality to help guide the eye throughout the frame. I like how the photographer carefully rendered the b&w treatment in the image and even retained a bright counterpoint in the far right to balance that of the waterfall on the left.
